This server has nothing to do with Mac's. It is only necessary that the records are fixed up on enough replication partners so that every server that replicates with this server will receive (through replication) the new data. Use the IP address to verify that an IP address maps to a subnet and to determine the site association. So, www.google.com doesn't resolve, typing in PRIMARY doesn't resolve either.
