This time everything did work but i thought I must switch back to the stable version and I (as far as I can remember) tried to remove these and install mysql-server-5.0 These should probably be removed as well. Can 'it' be used to refer to a person? What's the last character in a file?

Here's a possible fix for this one--it worked for me. Then try the following command sudo apt-get --purge autoremove mysql* sudo apt-get autoclean After that sudo rm -r /var/lib/mysql sudo rm -r /etc/mysql After the above steps try installing mysql again.
